Simutrans Manual - The Climate Settings
The climate settings dialog lets you choose which climates will be available on a map, and at which height level they will occur. The numbers behind each climate determine at which height the climate starts. A climate will reach from the starting height up to the next higher climate.

The climates determine the sort of trees that can grow there, also the choice of houses for cities and the placement of industries.
- The water level is the overall sea height. Higher water levels mean less land.
- The mointain height is the limit for the highest mounatin peaks.
- Map roughness determines the overall hilliness of the map.
- Summer snowline sets the height level for permanent snow, i.e. the height above which there will be snow all the year.
- The winter snowline is the height where snow starts in winter time.
- Check "No trees" if you want a map without any trees.
